What are the rights of Hindu Women in ancestral / Co-parcenary Property?

The rights of Hindu women in ancestral / Co-parcenary property are equal to that of any male member. She is entitled to equal share as that of male members. Earlier Hindu Succession Act, 1956 had given rights only to male members of the joint family in ancestral   property. Many states have amended the Act conferring equal rights on female members of joint family. State of Karnataka has amended the   Section 6 of the Act; according to which daughter of a co-parcener shall by birth become co-parcener acquiring equal rights in the property.  This amendment has come into force from 30/July/1994.  However, this right is not available to the daughters who are married prior to 30th July 1994.  This provision is made to avoid litigations on already settled property matters.
