Whether the General Power of Attorney requires franking or registration?  Can the GPA holder attend the Sub-Registrar’s office for registration of GPA on behalf of the executant of GPA? What charges are payable for registration of GPA?

If the GPA is for transfer of property by way of sale or conveyance by the GPA holder, registration is compulsory and the GPA holder can present and execute the documents on behalf of the owner of the property, provided the GPA is executed according to law.  The GPA executed in favour of blood relations requires payment of stamp duty of Rs.100/-.  In respect of others, it is 7.5 per cent on the market value of the property which will be adjusted [denoted] at the time of sale of property.
